This city is a beautiful place to live, with a tropical climate and picturesque cityscape. It is also home to several outstanding institutions ready to meet your educational needs.
Aside from the bright, sunny days, West Palm Beach is a very rainy city, the fourth wettest in the country. It is home to about 100,000 residents. Beautiful historic districts, a vibrant arts scene, and lively nightlife make this a great place to be a student. Of course, there are also beautiful beaches and associated water sports to fill your free days, too.
Palm Beach State College was founded in 1933, and it is the oldest community college in Florida. The original building housing Palm Beach Community College is even listed on the National Register of Historical Places! The building, having been carefully restored, is once again in use by the college. There are also four additional campuses in the county.
Palm Beach Atlantic University is a four-year university located right on the waterfront. Its campus takes up seven blocks and contains several historic buildings. Palm Beach Atlantic University is a small, private college with only about 3,200 students. There are many degree options to choose from, and the university has recently added nursing and pharmacy schools in addition to its previous offerings.
Northwood University, like Palm Beach Atlantic University, is a very small four-year private college. It has only about 1,000 students in attendance. Northwood University is primarily a business school, and it offers both Bachelor’s and graduate degrees concentrated toward careers in the automotive industry. The campus is in the northwest part of the city but is an offshoot of a main campus located in Michigan.
If you’ve always wanted to work in the food industry, look into the Florida Culinary Institute. This school offers diploma and degree programs related to various facets of the culinary arts, pastry and baking arts, restaurant management, and even nutrition. The Florida Culinary Institute is part of the Lincoln group of schools, as is the Lincoln College of Technology, a technical college also located in the Palm Beaches. Either one of the Lincoln schools in would be a great choice for vocational training.
South University is a proprietary college with a beautiful campus in West Palm Beach. This campus offers Bachelor’s and Associate’s degree programs in a variety of areas including nursing, healthcare, business, and legal studies. The small campus and intimate class sizes of this campus are appealing to many students.
