It's expected that the highway will be closed for at least an hour or longer. (Posted: 6:43 PM CDT)

Ehrhardt Pleads To Lesser Charge
Murray, KY (WKYX) – Murray State University’s starting quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Tuesday morning during his pre-trial appearance in Calloway County District Court after County Attorney David Harrington made a motion changing the second-degree robbery charge, a Class C felony, to a disorderly conduct (misdemeanor) charge. In an earlier court appearance, Ehrhardt had plead not-guilty to the robbery charge, which carried a potential prison term of up to 10 years.

This means Ehrhardt will have a 90-day jail sentence suspended for a year as long as he completes 20 hours of community service, pays $178 in court costs, and writes a letter of apology to Racer Patrol.

Ehrhardt’s charges stem from what Murray State athletic department officials dubbed a prank gone wrong, after a member of Racer Patrol was apparently pushed and had his ticket book stolen in an incident that occurred in a parking lot near the intramural fields. A witness identified the 20-year-old sophomore, who later admitted to the incident and returned the ticket book, saying he was bet $20 that he wouldn’t do it. (posted 5:45 pm)

Paducah Police Search For Southside Robber
(WKYX) Paducah Police are searching for a man who held up GameCrazy inside the Hollywood Video store on Paducah's Southside last night. Police say a man walked into the store about 9 last night and demanding money. He reportedly indicated that he had a gun, although he never showed one. He is described as having bushy facial hair and long sideburns. He was wearing a dark ball cap, dark jacket, and a black shirt with a white design and khaki cargo pants. (posted 6:48 am)

Two Graves Teachers Receive Honors
Mayfield, KY (WNGO) Two Graves County teachers are among a select group of only 12 in the four-state area named as “The Heartland’s Best” teachers by KFVS-TV 12. Graves County Central Elementary School teacher Vicki Lamb was nominated by several students, but Channel 12 anchor Kathy Sweeney said more important than the number was the emphasis on her love for her students and how much she makes learning fun. Lamb began teaching 19 years ago after being a stay-at-home mom for her own children. She said she can’t imagine a time when she wouldn’t want to come to school to interact with her students. Graves County Middle School librarian Kelly Locker and her student staff have won several national awards for their book fairs. Yet, she has taught for only the past four years. Locker said that as a young teacher she can bring a perspective that relates to her students. She said she benefits from the interaction as much as her students do. Banterra Bank presented both teachers with digital cameras in recognition of their achievements. Channel 12 will broadcast one of the two teachers’ stories during its 5 p.m. newscast on Thursday, May 15, and the other on Sunday, May 18. The stories will be repeated during “The Breakfast Show” between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. the following day. (posted 12:29pm)

Semi Driver Injured In Crash In Southern Illinois

(WKYX) A truck driver was injured in a crash early this morning on I-24 in Johnson County Illinois. Illinois State Police say 52 year old Robert Willis of Paris Tennessee was driving a semi heading west on I-24 near mile marker 23 about 3 this morning when he lost control, struck a guardrail, went down an embankment, and struck a tree. Willis was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center, and then was transferred to St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louisi. His condition is not known. Willis has been charged with Improper Lane Usage and Driving Ill or Fatigued.  (posted 10:29 am)

MSU Freshman Paralympic Hopeful
Murray, KY (WKYX) – You have to look hard at Alex Dornbusch on the soccer field to realize the Murray State freshman is any different than his Elizabeth Residential College's intramural team. At times, he is several steps slower than the rest and runs with a limp. That is because every move Dornbusch makes takes an incredible amount of focus. He is still able to compete, though.

He suffered from a brain injury almost four years ago, after being hit by a car while he was riding his bike without a helmet and sent into a coma.

Dornbusch tried out for the Paralympics this summer, but didn’t make the team. However, he hopes to represent the United States at the World Championship in 2010 and at the Paralympics in 2012.

"Talking to some of the guys on the team, they say my recovery pace is a lot faster than theirs," he said. "Right now, I've kind of plateaued a little bit in my recovery. You have that sharp increase where you're recovering really quickly and then it just kind of slows down. When I go back home this summer, I'm really going to try to loosen up my muscles and go to therapy and sports medicine clinic a lot." (posted 11:20 am)

Spring Observations
Western KY (WKYX)Gander Report:

Recently, everyone has been highly focused on the large scale events that we have had; flooding, tornados, and an earthquake. Here are some smaller, yet just as significant events that are worth looking at when you get a chance
to slow down. The velveting buck's antlers are becoming more pronounced and elude to whether he will be a shooter this season. The ladies (does), if not already, have become reclusive and are giving birth to fawns. Geese have had their young. Mallards and Pintails are hatching around the 24h of this month. Depending on who you ask, the Whippoorwills are either as irritating as the June bugs that catch in our hair this time of year or as soothing as the chirp of a cricket. If you have an outbuilding close, there is nothing that lets the air
out of your sails more than observing a barn swallow in flight. Turtles are migrating so watch for them on the roads. Toads and frogs gather under evening porch lights trying to catch dinner. Baby squirrels are venturing further out of the nook in the tree.

There are only a few more weeks left in school so make sure you are scheduling a weekend to go fishing and camping with the kids before it gets too warm. When packing, don't forget the nets and containers to catch ladybugs, caterpillars, butterflies, fireflies, minnows, ect. Don't forget to bring the two way radios so they can venture off just far enough. Lastly, remember the bug and poison ivy juice.

We have attached two websites for your convenience when researching where to go. Have fun. (posted 10.10pm)
